A Gigabox is a box that has a higher memory allocation than the standard Codio boxes. The default memory allocation is 512MB, which is fine for most applications.

If you need your students to have more memory then we offer 1GB and 2GB boxes. These need to be purchased separately and you can add any number of either box size to your organization. You will need to specify the Gigabox size and then each student accessing the unit will have a Gigabox for that unit.

You should be aware that if you do not have enough Gigaboxes in your organization then they will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Students who access the unit after your Gigabox limit has been reached will see a warning.

An administrator can see the status of the Gigabox count in the organization settings screen.

Important: You must use 2nd generation boxes if you are using Gigaboxes. All new projects will be 2nd generation. Some older projects or projects that use older stacks should be checked.
