We investigated the motivators and consequences of students' use of Generative AI in their coursework.

Our 2023 survey sought to investigate the nuances of computing students' use of Generative AI. Previous research usually took the form of large-scale surveys aimed at gauging levels of use or focused on writing rather than computing.

This paper unpacks the high-level use of Generative AI, arguing that students might benefit from guidance from instructors on how to use these tools effectively.
